Meryl Hare’s design studio has just released a signature rug collection in collaboration with Designer Rugs that is set to become a classic of Australian design. The Designer Rugs Hare + Klein Collection features seven rug designs linked by their innovative use of texture, incomplete abstract forms and subtle colourways.
Each rug employs hemp, silk and other materials to create a layered, textured feel. Expert Nepalese weavers from Kathmandu hand knot the designs using traditional abrash technique, which hand dyes Tibetan wool in small vats to create interesting and unique colour variations. The result is an artisanal effect where varying autumnal shades feature intimate, complex characteristics with gold and pink shimmers. No two rugs in the collection will ever look exactly the same.
