Hans J. Wegner’s work was characterised by an innovative and organic approach to the art of designing. Queen was designed by Wegner in the late 1960s and is, to this day, still one of his most elegant armchairs. The slim and intact lines in the back of the stool demonstrates Wegner’s exquisite understanding for materials and talent for designing.
The chair’s mode of expression is a feminine reflection of his popular Ox chair, and the two dissimilar easy chairs complement each other in a beautiful aesthetic juxtaposition. Queen looks beautiful in leather, textile or velvet.
Wegner drew both the Ox chair and the Queen chair at the same time, but, when the Ox was launched in the 1960s, the public had to wait many years for the Queen – it was launched in 2010.
